Two people who keep finding each other in their dreams. Different city every night, places neither of them has ever been. Rio. Chongqing. Petra. They almost touch. They never quite meet.
This is a music video concept I've been carrying in my notebook for months — the kind of multi-city, multi-character story that normally takes a full pre-production day to map out across scripts, storyboards, and reference folders. I built the entire short inside CapCut's new Director Mode in one sitting.
What surprised me wasn't the visuals. It was the workflow. Most AI video tools ask for a prompt and return a finished clip. Director Mode does the opposite. It walks you through the actual process a director uses: idea, script, characters, locations, props, shots. All on one canvas. The Agent writes the script first. Then it builds the story assets. Then the shots. Then it lets you edit individual frames without regenerating the whole thing. It's the first AI workflow I've used that respects pre-production instead of skipping over it.
This video is the whole build, start to finish. The concept. The script the Agent wrote. The three dream cities. The shots I kept and the ones I reworked. And what came out the other side.
