In today’s video, we’re taking a closer look at the Maison Margiela x Salomon XT-MM6 — a luxury reinterpretation of the classic Salomon XT-6.
The regular Salomon XT-6 is already one of the most recognizable sneakers in the gorpcore / trail sneaker space, known for its rugged outsole, quick lace system, and outdoor utility. But with the XT-MM6, Maison Margiela took that foundation and changed the purpose of the shoe entirely.
Instead of keeping it as a true trail-ready sneaker, this collaboration gets more of a daily driver treatment with traditional laces, a flatter walking outsole, Margiela design details, and a much wider toe box that makes the shoe more comfortable for everyday wear.
But with the regular XT-6 retailing for around $185 — and often being found for much less — while the Margiela XT-MM6 retails for $480 and can sell for even more on the resale market, the real question is simple:
Did Maison Margiela ruin the Salomon XT-6… or did they actually fix it?
