The Muhammad Ali Center is helping lead the world in a one-of-a-kind day of service in honor of The Greatest.
Ahead of the inaugural Muhammad Ali Day of Compassion, Yolanda "Lonnie" Ali, the wife of the late boxer and global icon, spoke to theGrio's Brandon Caldwell about one such moment of compassion from her husband that lived with her forever.
"It gave him joy to be able to do that," Lonnie said, recalling a moment when her husband, after meeting a man down on his luck, sprinted back to hm and gave him everything out of his pocket.
The inaugural event will serve as a global day of service and community action to be held every June 3 and will be tied to one of the famed boxer and humanitarian’s core beliefs: “Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on Earth.”
