Description
Creating images worthy of a hair campaign isn’t just about having a subject with great hair. It requires an impeccable hair stylist, lighting that enhances the shape and shine or the hair, plus careful retouching.
In this video I’ll show you a mock hair campaign shoot so you can see my approach to lighting so you can see how each light contributes to the shoot. Then we’ll select final images to retouch, and I’ll take you step by step through some of my favorite AI retouching tools to enhance the hair.
Lighting (5 light setup)
Main Light: Extra large umbrella with diffusion positioned to the left, providing soft overall illumination to shape light on face and hair
Hard Light (Texture): Bare strobe layered in front of the main umbrella to add specularity and shine to the hair
Fill Light: Bare strobe positioned in front of subject on floor stand to lift shadows and add additional sparkle and brightness
Background Light: Bare strobe behind subject on floor stand to overexpose the Savage Universal Ivory background and create high-key look
Hair Light: Medium umbrella with diffusion on roller stand with boom arm positioned behind subject to add highlights to the top and sides of hair
