The truth is that there are other options on the table and it’s not always either kill or be killed. That’s oversimplification.
In the first place, if you can leave the danger zone, do that. Violence is always, always a last resort. Second, if you are forced to defend yourself, your defense must be proportional. In Anthony’s case, he had no reason to fear for his life because of a push. Therefore, using a deadly weapon wasn’t warranted under self-defense law. That’s the reason he’s in jail right now.
