Hello my Beautiful People! Welcome back to the Studio! I had an awesome week last week, I had a student with me for three days and we painted up a storm! We had so much fun together, but now shes gone home and I have a ton of little bits of leftover paint everywhere! What do you do when you dont want to throw it out? A Sandwich Pour is an awesome way to use up bits of leftover color.. its easy and lots of fun! Lets get started!
Today I am using a 20x20 inch gallery wrapped canvas from Artists Loft.

A Sandwich Pour refers to sandwiching small layers of colors between bigger layers of white. The result is a gorgeous marbled effect, with swirls of pastel colors throughout. In this video, I did a double decker sandwich. with three thick layers of white and two small layers of colors.
Im using some leftover Amsterdam Pearl Blue and Pearl Green. I make sure to put that color between the darkest colors, to ensure that it shows up. The Amsterdam Pearls show up best when they are on top of a darker color.
As soon as I flipped the cups out I noticed two really unique and cool looking cells, with several rings around them. Flip cups will always produce cells, but these were very unique.
I love that we got a lot of transparent layers in this piece.. it adds a softness and an ethereal quality that I really love.
