Description
Laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy removes the uterine body while retaining the cervix. This 60-second surgical education video highlights six essential considerations: patient selection, urinary tract anatomy, vascular control, uterocervical division, specimen extraction and follow-up.
Cervical preservation requires counselling about possible persistent or cyclical stump bleeding and continued cervical screening according to applicable guidelines. Ovarian conservation is a separate decision.
Specimen extraction must account for malignancy risk, informed consent and applicable device guidance. Containment does not eliminate every risk associated with morcellation.
For surgical education—a focused safety overview rather than a complete operative protocol.
