Jenni speaking Finnish

Wikitongues Short 5 days ago

Description

American social norms can sometimes lead Finns to be misunderstood. When friendliness is expressed through constant conversation, a more reserved style can be mistaken for coldness, even when it’s not intended that way at all.

*Finnish is a Uralic language, meaning it's not closely related to most European languages spoken across the continent. It developed relatively independently from most major European languages and is more closely related to Estonian and, distantly, Hungarian than to English or French. It consists of a unique structure with no grammatical gender, total phonetic consistency, and long compound words.
