The big idea in Jeet Kune Do is to intercept the attack with one of our own. That’s the ideal. But it’s not always possible because the enemy isn’t going to be cooperating. He could be much taller than you. Or his timing throws you off. Something like that. But all isn’t lost. It’s not “stop hit or nothing.” The rest of the JKD systematic comes in at this point. Make him miss. Then counter him.
Use footwork and evasion. Or the parry. Everything works together as an integrated unit. That’s the big idea.
