Orphée is one of Jóhannsson’s most intimate works - a collection built around piano, strings, and subtle electronic textures, loosely inspired by the Orpheus myth. The music unfolds in a restrained, introspective language, where repetition and small harmonic shifts play a central role.
In this piano solo version, the texture is reduced to its core - focusing on tone, balance, and the gradual development of the harmonic material.
Jóhann Jóhannsson (1969 - 2018) was an Icelandic composer known for blending minimalism, ambient, and contemporary classical music. His work often explores memory, space, and stillness, and he later gained international recognition through his film scores, including The Theory of Everything, Sicario, and Arrival.
