𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭'𝐬 "𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐭" - 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐢𝐭'𝐬 𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐬.

The Pallas's cat, also known as the manul, has become a viral sensation for its iconic, cranky facial expressions and incredibly thick fur. But while it may be a "meme-face" star online, the reality in the wild is far more complex.

In our new video, "𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐭'𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐢𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠," we explore the hidden threats facing this elusive feline:
• 𝐀 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭: These cats roam 16 countries across Central Asia, but their populations are becoming increasingly fragmented and are declining in several nations.
• 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐰 𝐃𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐦𝐚: Manuls are "squatters" who rely on abandoned marmot and fox burrows for shelter; if these other species decline, the manul loses its only protection from predators.
• 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬: They face constant pressure from habitat loss due to mining and agriculture, as well as threats from domestic dogs that spread disease.
• 𝐇𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐬: Their official "Least Concern" status often hides the fact that very little is known about them in large parts of their range.

Conservationists are working hard to protect core habitats, but more international cooperation and monitoring are needed to save this charismatic small cat.
