I used to be a die hard Omega fan, and Longines did nothing for me. This was the status quo for decades and continued into the first 10 years of The Urban Gentry, but fast forward to 2026, when I not only don't have any Seamaster or Speedies in my collection, but now I own my very first Longines, and it is in heavy wrist rotation too. They might both be part of the same Swatch empire and with equally profound historicity, but they are very different beasts of horology. So what changed for me? Why does one seem to be pushing the other out? Is Longines the new Omega? Is this just a refection of my evolving tastes, or is this perception Gentry wide or even perhaps beyond us?
