We were surprised he could even walk.
This sweet donkey had probably been hit by a car, causing painful flank and knee wounds. We brought him to our hospital and right away could see that he was a gentle angel.
We named him Nuzzle, because of his irresistibly sweet nature. With regular wound dressings, rest and good food, it took Nuzzle two months before he was ready to join our herd of permanently disabled donkeys in the sanctuary.
Nuzzle has a hernia that will probably not cause him problems since he'll never have to carry a load again. We're so grateful to our donors for making it possible for Nuzzle to retire from cruelly hard labor and live the rest of his life in the happiest leisure.
