"No more rich man's wars!" chanted hundreds of military veterans and their supporters today in Philadelphia holding a "Freedom over fascism" march on America's 250th birthday.
"Healthcare, not warfare!"
"We got the guillotine, you better run!" chanted the protesters marching through Philadelphia on Independence Day.
"F*** Donald Trump!" "Chinga la migra!"
The veteran's-led march chanted "no bombs in the air, no boots on the ground!"
An organizer explained that this chant refers to at home and abroad: "I could be talking about Palestine, I could be talking about Congo, I could be talking about Venezuela, and I could be talking about Southwest Philadelphia, and I am talking about all of them!"
Revolutionary war reenactors stayed largely in character as they looked on the modern anti-Trump veteran-led protesters marching through Philadelphia.
"Go ICE!" yelled a man dressed as Paul Revere who entered into the anti-Trump veterans march.
"You're an a**hole, get out of here," a man demanded before attempting to push him out.
"I know I'm an a**hole, but freedom of speech!" the ICE supporting Paul Revere man replied.
Speakers condemned the celebration of America's first 250 years while "troops are occupying our own streets in DC, in Memphis, in LA, in New Orleans, and that is not okay!"
"We reject this administration's fascist vision for this country's future, and we're here because defending out nation means speaking out!"
"Trump has also threatened to deploy National Guard to polling stations this fall," a speaker at the veteren's march said, causing boos. "We say f*** that!"
"Military members have no place in our elections intimidating voters and taking away our democracy."
"We are sounding the alarm about a private army known as ICE that disappears our neighbors and terrorizes our communities," another veteran added.
"The Trump regime - not administration, regime - is sending military personnel to our neighborhoods as the British did to suppress dissent!"
