A viewer asked if we could do a off grid power system update video. Since 2018 we've relied on Battle Born Batteries to power our RV adventures, and this video shares the entire journey.
It all started when the factory lead-acid batteries in our 2016 Winnebago Vista couldn't keep up with our style of camping. After a freezing night at a rest area, we woke up to dead batteries and no furnace. That experience led us to install our first two 100Ah Battle Born lithium batteries, and we've never looked back.
Over the years, those batteries have endured conditions most RV owners would never intentionally put them through. Mounted in an unheated exterior compartment beneath our RV stairs, they've seen temperatures as low as 8°F and as high as 127°F while continuing to perform year after year.
As our dry camping and boondocking adventures expanded, so did our power needs. We added 200 watts of solar, then eventually upgraded our entire electrical system with the help of Echo One Adventures. The upgrade included three additional 270Ah Battle Born batteries, a 3,000-watt Victron inverter, and 1,200 watts of rooftop solar, transforming our RV into a true off-grid machine.
Most recently, we added a Victron Orion DC-to-DC charger to improve charging performance for our original battery bank while traveling.
