I am tackling a topic that every guy thinks about, but very few are willing to talk about openly—manscaping. More specifically, I am walking through exactly how I groom my pubic area and shave my balls safely, comfortably, and without making the painful mistakes that way too many guys make (trust me, this is one area where technique matters).

One of the biggest mistakes I see guys make is reaching for a dedicated "manscaping" trimmer and assuming it's safe to use directly on their scrotum. I don't recommend that. I prefer using a quality beard trimmer because it's more versatile, but I never use the motorized blade directly on my balls. No matter what a company claims about "skin-safe technology," the skin on your scrotum is simply too delicate.

If you've let things get a little out of control, don't try to remove everything in one session. I recommend gradually trimming the hair shorter over time instead of going from a full bush to completely bare overnight. Your skin—and your comfort level—will thank you.

I don't shave the pubic region with a razor. Multi-blade razors cut hair below the skin's surface, which feels amazing for about thirty minutes before the itching, razor burn, and ingrown hairs start. Add underwear friction, workouts, or intimacy into the mix, and suddenly that baby-smooth shave becomes incredibly uncomfortable. Trimming is the smarter long-term option for the pubic area.

Another tip I want to stress is not avoiding exfoliation. The shorter you trim or shave, the more important it becomes to exfoliate the area regularly. Exfoliating helps prevent ingrown hairs by keeping dead skin from trapping new hair growth beneath the surface. It's one of those small habits that makes a huge difference in keeping your skin healthy and irritation-free.

Not ignoring the value of aesthetics is crucial as well. If you're trimming your pubic hair, don't leave a harsh line between your groomed area and the rest of your body. Blend everything together naturally. If you have hair on your stomach or thighs, fading the length creates a much cleaner, more intentional look. As an added bonus, trimming excess pubic hair can make your package appear larger because less hair hides its visible length.

When it comes to actually shaving your balls, forgetting to prep can be a functional flaw. First, trim the hair down with clippers using a guard. Then wait until the very end of a warm shower before shaving. The warm water softens the hair and relaxes the skin, making the process much easier and significantly reducing the risk of cuts. I also recommend using a fresh, sharp razor and replacing blades regularly instead of trying to squeeze every last shave out of an old cartridge. My shaving technique is simple but deliberate. I pull the skin tight, use short downward strokes, and never rush. Trying to shave loose skin is asking for trouble. I also make sure to groom the entire area—including the area underneath and around the perineum—because stopping at the front leaves it looking unfinished. Slow, careful movements are the key to getting smooth results without nicks or irritation.

Aftercare is just as important as the shave itself. Once I'm out of the shower, I moisturize the freshly shaved skin because shaving removes natural oils and can leave the area dry and sensitive. After everything dries, I finish with body powder to absorb moisture, reduce friction, prevent swamp ass, and keep everything smelling fresh throughout the day. As far as maintenance goes, I don't think this needs to be an everyday routine. For most guys, once a week is plenty. The goal is consistency, not perfection, so find a schedule that keeps you comfortable, clean, and confident without overdoing it. Proper manscaping isn't about vanity—it's about taking care of yourself. When you use the right tools, take your time, maintain a regular routine, and care for your skin afterward, you'll stay cleaner, avoid painful irritation, feel more confident, and be much happier with the results.
