In this video, I paint some figures using watercolour and gouache. I'll explain the colour choices as I build up the paintings. Most of painting figures is really about drawing, with just a few simple colour principles added on top.
Something that helps me a ton with these is the flat, wide brush. It keeps me from fiddling with details too early.
