How deep can an iPhone survive underwater before deep sea pressure destroys it?
Today we put an iPhone 12 inside our water-filled deep sea pressure chamber and slowly increase the pressure until something goes wrong. This is not a normal waterproof test — this chamber can simulate hundreds of meters of ocean depth.
We also open the phone afterwards with a phone repair expert to see what actually failed inside the iPhone and how water pressure damages modern smartphones. Then we make things even worse with salt water.
Do not try this with your own phone. We are using a controlled pressure chamber and old test phones.
