A new historical marker will stand at what has been a gathering place in Winnebago County for hundreds of years.
The Winnebago County Historical & Archaeology Society is unveiling a historical marker for Delhi and the effigy mounds in the town of Rushford.
The site, along Old E Road, was a frontier trading settlement near the Fox River, and before that, an important gathering place for indigenous people, according to the historical society.
The society says the marker "represents the dedication, research, and collaboration of many individuals committed to preserving and sharing the rich history of Winnebago County."
