Cellist Eugene Friesen says this about composer and cellist Malcom Parson: “He is that rare player with feet planted firmly in classical music and the music of our time while possessing perfect intonation, fluent technique and stylistic versatility.” Today he's an acclaimed Brooklyn-based independent film composer, and member of the old-time string band The Carolina Chocolate Drops; at the age of 16 he was a first-time scholarship student and budding talent at the Heifetz Institute.
From a July 19, 2006 "Stars of Tomorrow" concert at Brewster Academy Malcolm Parson introduces and the performs the Scherzo for Cello & Piano, Op. 12, No. 2, by the French composer of Dutch descent named Daniël François van Goens. (1858-1912).
