"Calming the Waves" Su Shi
Don’t listen to the rain beating against the forest leaves;
Why not walk slowly, chanting at ease?
Better than a saddle and horse — I prefer sandals and a cane.
Who’s afraid?
A straw cloak in misty rain, I’ll live my life the same.
The chilly spring wind sobers the wine a little,
Yet the mountain air is slightly cold.
The setting sun breaks through the clouds ahead.
Looking back at the stormy place I came from,
I return —
Neither wind nor rain nor shining sun can trouble me anymore.

莫聽穿林打葉聲，何妨吟嘯且徐行。
竹杖芒鞋輕勝馬，誰怕？一蓑煙雨任平生。
料峭春風吹酒醒，微冷，山頭斜照卻相迎。
回首向來蕭瑟處，歸去，也無風雨也無晴。
