Description

Last month, the Geely Starray EM i achieved a GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title and it was not done on a test track or under lab conditions.
Under official Guinness supervision, the Geely Starray EM i plug in hybrid SUV completed the Sydney to Melbourne coastal drive, covering over 1,000 kilometres, with a verified fuel consumption of just 3.83 litres per 100 kilometres.

This result officially earned the Starray EM i the title for the lowest fuel consumption driving the Sydney to Melbourne coastal route by a plug in hybrid powered production SUV, setting a new benchmark for real world hybrid efficiency.

The drive took place across public roads and everyday traffic conditions including urban congestion, coastal highways, hills, and early summer heat. The route was selected to reflect genuine Australian driving rather than a controlled efficiency test.

At the centre of the record is Geely’s EM i Super Hybrid Technology, pairing a high efficiency 1.5 litre petrol engine with an advanced 11 in 1 electric drive system, intelligent energy management, and ultra low drag aerodynamics.

The system allows seamless switching between electric, hybrid, and engine only driving to maximise efficiency over long distances.

This world record result matters not just for the number, but for what it demonstrates. Long range, ultra low consumption plug in hybrid driving is achievable in real world conditions without range anxiety or constant charging.
