I went into the forest to carve a gnome — but not just any gnome. Along the way, you’ll see some of the gnomes I’ve already made, resting by a gnome house and hidden among the trees. But this one is different… this gnome is meant for you to see.
In this video, I’ll take a simple block of wood (3x7x2) my knife (OCC Tools) and the quiet of the woods to carve a Scandinavian flat-plane gnome. This style uses bold cuts, large facets, and a minimalist form that brings the figure to life in a simple, happy way.
If you enjoy woodcarving, storytelling, or just want to see how a gnome comes to life in the forest, you’ll love this one.
