BWI-LHR: My first time on the British Airways Boeing 787-8! I checked the 787-9 off the list on my London to Newark outbound flight a couple weeks earlier. That route was originally scheduled to be a 777-200 in Economy, but a last-minute aircraft swap turned into an early Christmas present: an upgrade to World Traveller Plus (Premium Economy) on Christmas Eve.
The crew brought pure holiday cheer, wearing reindeer antlers, Santa hats, and Grinch headbands. It was a fantastic, charming touch by the BA crew.
Approaching London, it was a crisp, beautiful morning with clear skies and a stunning sunrise. The only thing breaking the peace was the distinct, loud whining sound of the 787's hydraulic pumps, which ran through most of the landing sequence (apologies for the noise, but it's a quirky characteristic of the jet!).
