The heat didn't keep crowds from celebrating the start of Seattle Fleet Week along the city's waterfront.
There was nonstop entertainment for hours Tuesday afternoon at Pier 62, from a U.S. Coast Guard search-and-rescue demonstration to musical performances. The Seattle waterfront's latest visitor, the USS Cincinnati, is docked at Pier 66.
The Seafair tradition kicked off on a high note with the Navy Band Northwest, the Alaska Air Group Volunteer Dance Team and event organizers describing this year's celebration as especially meaningful because it coincides with America's 250th anniversary.
