Vehicle description:
The Fauteur is the product of a reliable heavy tank formula and advanced propellant manipulations, giving a formidable vehicle that is well-suited to both close- and long-range combat. Good armor lets it withstand enemy fire, while decent mobility gets its firepower closer to the front lines.
Historical reference:
In the early 1970s, AMX promoted a program to develop a new highly armored tank, armed with a powerful, fast-firing gun. Although the armor was traditional, the firepower was based on a new principle. The engineers planned to implement a hybrid gun with additional electrical power increasing the effectiveness of the solid propellant. The propellant gases were heated by an electric arc between electrodes on the barrel, improving combustion and boosting the shot power. The project was closed due to technical limitations.
