That "perfect hold the angle" photo everyone tells you to copy? It's quietly killing your swing speed. Mike Malaska breaks down the worst picture in golf — and the simple move that finally lets you release the club with real speed.
Most golfers see a tour player at impact, assume they're pulling the handle forward and holding the angle, and try to freeze into that position. Mike explains why that's backwards: when you drag the handle, you can never catch the clubface up — so you're forced to flip, and you lose both speed AND control.
The real fix is feeling how the weight of the club works relative to your hands, so the club releases and unhinges on its own. Mike walks through the corner drill (taught to him by Joe Nichols) — one tee behind the ball that trains the correct down-and-back move — and shows why what looks like "holding the angle" is really just momentum doing the work. This is the difference between casting, flipping, and a swing that creates effortless clubhead speed.
