On June 7, 2026 Dr Jay Smith had a number of people get up on the ladder with him at Speaker's Corner, each with a message to the people who were gathered there.
Dr Paul Blackham, from London, was the first to stand on the ladder with Jay, and for around 35 minutes the two of them unpacked the significance of the Trinity, and why it is so important to understand who exactly our God is.
Much of the time they were engaging with a well-known atheist who regularly comes to the Corner, named Steve, to help him understand why God is both 3, yet one, and why this tri-une God is found throughout the Bible, beginning with the first verse in the Bible
Towards the end of their time Paul did a comparison with the Islamic god, Allah, who is never known as triune, and therefore, could never be in relationship with either himself, or with anyone else.
At the end a Muslim asked why God chose the Jews, suggesting that this meant that God was racist for choosing one people above the rest. Jay and Paul reminded the crowd that the Jews were not chosen for salvation but were chosen to bring salvation to the rest of the world; and this is one reason so much of the world continues to hate them.
