Few symbols in the modern world provoke as strong a reaction as the hijab.
For some, it is an unmistakable marker of oppression, a veil drawn over women’s freedom, agency, and voice. For others, it is precisely the opposite: a declaration of liberation from the relentless demands western hegemony and the monopoly of the male gaze.
But in a conversation this charged, who better to speak than the women who actually live it?
The Review of Religions Women’s Section takes to the streets of the UK to meet the public where they are and engage honestly with the toughest, most controversial takes on the hijab head on.
