What Youβll Need
An old T-shirt
Fabric scissors
Pins or a marking tool (optional for precision)
The Step-by-Step Process
Decide on the Exposure: First, choose which shoulder you want to expose.
Mark the Cut: Starting from the neckline on the opposite side of the shoulder you're exposing, measure out about 1 inch (2.5 cm). You can go a bit further or closer depending on the desired fit.
Trace the Line: Draw a slight curved line from that 1-inch mark down toward the underarm of the shoulder you want to show. Colleen recommends marking where you want the shirt to sit on your body with a pin, then coming in another inch to ensure it stays taut against your body.
The Cut: Use your scissors to cut along the line, starting from the shoulder and following the curve all the way around.
Pro-Tip: Keep the fabric in the middle of your scissors while cutting to avoid jagged edges.
Finish: Once the excess fabric is removed, you have a freshly refashioned off-the-shoulder top!
