Description
When Project Motor Racing launched, I wasn't shy about my disappointment. The handling, force feedback, and overall experience left me unconvinced, and my review reflected that.
Fast forward to today, and PMR has released the new GT Icons Pack, a collection of legendary sports cars from the golden age of endurance racing. More importantly, it's the first major content release developed under the studio's new handling direction with input from former Kunos developer Aris Vasilakos.
To see whether things have really changed, I jumped behind the wheel of the Lola T70 Mk 3 at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport). With a lightweight chassis, big-block V8 power, and no modern driver aids, the Lola is exactly the kind of car that exposes both the strengths and weaknesses of a racing simulator.
The result surprised me.
While I still have reservations about Project Motor Racing as a whole, this combination of classic prototype, historic character, and improved driving feel delivered one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in the sim so far.
Was this a glimpse of Project Motor Racing's future? Let's find out.
