DHS Premiere: Sophie Joe - Rainbow Around the Sun
Singapore-born artist Sophie Joe delivers ”Rainbow Around The Sun” via Sven Tasnadi’s Headfire International.
As both the producer and vocalist, she brings a highly disciplined musicality to the electronic space, rooted in her years as a classically trained pianist and jazz vocalist. An alumna of both UAL (Sound Arts) and Berklee College of Music (Electronic Production & Design), she blends formal training with a love for experimental soundscapes. Her career has seen her work reach unique heights, from her collaboration with Courtesy on ”Night Journeys II” for the CHANEL Fall/Winter Haute Couture show to being featured as a vocalist on Stefan Rose’s ”This Feeling” in DJ Mag Brasil. In this latest release, she draws from the ”calm intensity” of an atmospheric solar halo witnessed in Mexico. The track is a hypnotic blend of driving rhythms and experimental vocal processing centred around the sacred ”Ometeotl” chant. It is a sophisticated expression of her musical journey, bringing together soulful, melodic sensibilities with a grounded energy.
