At the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, David Archuleta speaks with Jessi Draper about his memoir DEVOUT, growing up Mormon in Utah, and how coming out affected his relationships in the Church. He shares the Salt Lake airport encounter that helped spark the book, the three-year writing process, and difficult family experiences, including accusations against his dad and the pressure that intensified his early career and American Idol years. David describes a spiritual experience that shifted his self-view, what led him to step away from the Church, and his hope that both LDS and queer communities will better understand and see each other.
