Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Bill Cassidy (R-LA), two Republicans who recently lost their reelection bids to Trump-backed challengers, said they disagreed with President Trump's decision to deliver a primetime address on election integrity.

Speaking Friday at the Aspen Security Forum in Colorado, Sen. Cornyn said the president's speech revealed little new information and provided no evidence that the outcome of any election would have been different.

"We've known that our adversaries have been trying to influence our elections for a long time," the Intelligence Committee member said. "But the bottom line is, none of this would have changed the outcome, so I don't really — I guess I don't get it."

Sen. Cassidy said Republicans should focus on Americans' concerns ahead of the midterm elections rather than relitigating the past.

"As a Republican, my concern is that it's setting up a Democratic wave election," he said. "We should be talking about what matters to people around the kitchen table, and right now, they can't afford their health care, their housing, their groceries, or their gasoline."
