Will Holland, under his Quantic moniker, is a deeply immersive songwriter, producer and musical explorer whose 20-year career is defined by engaging with cultures and scenes around the world. From early downtempo releases like The 5th Exotic to expansive projects such as The Quantic Soul Orchestra and Ondatrópica, his work blends soul, jazz, electronic, reggae and Latin influences with a strong emphasis on collaboration and live instrumentation. Time spent in Colombia and beyond shaped a sound rooted in both tradition and experimentation, leading to diverse projects, global partnerships and acclaimed releases including Atlantic Oscillations and Dancing While Falling. Constantly evolving between studio, stage and DJ culture, Holland continues to create music that reflects a lifelong commitment to exploration, connection and the ever-changing nature of global sound.
"I spent years searching for records in Colombia, collecting LPs, 45s and especially fragile 78rpm shellac discs, often losing them to breakage along the way. What fascinated me was how Colombia’s jukebox culture kept 78s alive well beyond the 70s, preserving a rich, folkloric sound shaped by labels like Fuentes and Curro and artists such as Andrés Landero. Through digging, compiling The Original Sound of Cumbia, and later projects like Ondatropica, I’ve tried to share these recordings and honour the musicians behind them. Despite the technical challenges of playing and restoring these records, there’s something powerful about how music recorded over seventy years ago can still resonate so deeply today."
