The official flowers of all U.S. states and territories are on display at the U.S. Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C., through October 12. The exhibit is part of the garden’s celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Science News had the opportunity to tour the display on opening day, where experts showcased more than a dozen emerging blooms and shared the stories behind them.
