"TO THE READER.
Herein are set down the six stages of a fever, observed in a single patient over the space of some years, and rendered as near to the life as the instruments would allow. The author makes no claim to cure. He has only watched, and cut what he watched into the plate, and prints it here that others taken with the same distemper may know the country of it, and the weather, and the several rooms.
The stages are given in their natural order, though the fever itself keeps no such courtesy.
DIRECTIONS. Let the first three be taken in their order, entire, and without company. The latter three as the fever directs. All to be taken cold. ADVERTISEMENT. The patient recovered. "
