Brake and Tire Replacement Procedure – Step-by-Step Guide – RONZLLA RZ2 Electric Scooter
Step 1: Remove the seat assembly and non-slip pads.
Step 2: Remove the footrests / foot pedals.
Step 3: Remove the side trim panels.
Step 4: Pull out the rear motor cable.
Step 5: Remove the bolts securing the rear brake caliper (lower pump).
Step 6: Cut the cable ties and unwrap the spiral tubing – Video 07.
Step 7: Detach the handlebar switch and the master cylinder lever.
Step 8: Disconnect the rear brake caliper (red) from the brake line – Video.
Step 9: Withdraw the brake lever and brake line assembly – Video.
Step 10: On the new brake unit, separate the brake line from the caliper – Video 11.
Critical note for Step 10: Once separated, keep the black fitting at the caliper-to-line connection pointed upward at all times to prevent fluid leakage.
Step 11: Install the new brake assembly – Video. Important: Use an 8 mm open-end wrench to securely tighten the connection between the brake line and the red caliper.
Step 12: Reinstall the brake lever switch – Video. Mount the brake lever first, then attach the switch.
Step 13: Remove the Hall sensor and phase wires from the motor with the flat tire. Note: To detach the white Hall connector, press down on the locking tab on the white plastic housing before pulling it out. The three phase wires can be removed with a hex key.
Step 14: Cut the cable ties bundling the motor wires – Video.
Step 15: Release the retaining clips that hold the motor in place.
Step 16: Use a wrench to loosen and remove the retaining nuts on both sides of the motor axle, then lift out the motor assembly.
Step 17: Use a tire lever to pry the damaged tire off the motor rim. Note: Work from the side without the brake disc. Separate one bead of the tire from the rim first, then do the other side.
Step 18: Mount the new tire onto the motor. Press one bead into the rim groove, then work the other bead into the groove while applying firm pressure to keep it from popping back out.
Step 19: Seat the second bead of the new tire – Video. Compress one side of the tire, lock a tire lever between the tire and rim to hold it in place, then use a second lever to gradually work the remaining bead into the rim groove.
Step 20: Inflate the tire.
Step 21: Check the tire for leaks.
Step 22: Wipe down the motor and tire surfaces to remove any water residue.
Step 23: Reinstall the motor. Route the motor cable into the swingarm clip and secure it, then align the motor with the dropouts and set it in place. Engage both sides of the torque hooks into the swingarm slots, then tighten the axle nuts firmly with a wrench. Critical: The axle nuts on both sides must be torqued down very securely.
Step 24: Install the brake caliper. Slide the caliper slot over the brake disc, align the black mounting bracket with the bolt holes, and tighten the bolts to secure it.
Step 25: Secure the motor cable with cable ties.
Step 26: Fasten the motor phase wires and Hall sensor wires.
Step 27: Install the plastic protective cover over the motor phase wires.
Step 28: Bundle and dress the wiring harness.
Step 29: Wrap the wiring harness.
Step 30: Wrap the upper section of the wiring harness.
Step 31: Lay down the EVA foam padding and position the foot pedals over it.
Step 32: Secure the foot pedals with screws.
Step 33: Apply the anti-slip pads and reinstall the seat assembly.
