Boat Repairs First… Then We Cruise the Stunning St. Johns River

Description

Today we finally get to cruise the incredible St. Johns River — 310 miles of pure Florida magic.
But of course… not before the boat throws a few surprises at us. 😅

Our generator has been running hotter than usual, creeping past 200°, and before we can enjoy this beautiful cruise, I’ve got to play mechanic. Again. I check the impeller (it’s new), the heat exchanger (looks clear), and then the thermostat… which decides to make a snap sound only AFTER I boil it like we used to do with old Camaros and Firebirds. Pretty sure we found the culprit — now I just have to find a replacement for a generator model that apparently doesn’t exist on planet Earth.

While I’m elbow-deep in coolant and muriatic acid, Lyn and I also tackle a burst washer hose, squeeze into impossibly tiny access panels, and do all the glamorous boating chores YouTube never shows. 😆

But once the repairs are (temporarily) handled, we finally cast off and head into one of the most underrated and spectacular waterways in the United States: the St. John’s River. Quiet mornings, Florida wildlife, gorgeous scenery… and yes, martinis may have been involved.

If you know a good cross-reference for a Northern Lights 854M thermostat, let me know — I swear this generator model is a myth.
