Today we remember legendary British guitarist Bernie Marsden, born on this day in 1951, who we sadly lost in 2023. Through his rich and successful career, we will be most remembered as the member of the famous classic Whitesnake lineup 1978-1982. Besides closely collaborating with Deep Purple connected artists like Paice Ashton Lord, Cozy Powell, Forcefield, The Moody/Marsden Band, The Company of Snakes and M3, he also was a brief member of american band Babe Ruth, and British rock legends UFO. After leaving Whitesnake he also fronted two of his own bands Alaska and MGM.
In remembrance of his amazing life and career, we share a rare recording of his version of Rory Gallagher's footstompin' classic, where he paid homage to one of his own guitar heroes. In 2009, he also released an album of Gallagher covers titled "Bernie Plays Rory".
