Beschreibung

The Prelude in C major, BWV 924 – recorded here for All of Bach with young talent Shuxian Ding from the United States as part of a talent development project by the Netherlands Bach Society – is a practice piece father Bach wrote for his young son Wilhelm Friedemann Bach. It is a fascinating little piece: throughout the work, we hear practically no melody at all. Instead, there is a repeating pattern of four notes in the left hand, known as figuration. Beneath the surface of the figuration, the harmony keeps changing colour.
