Description
The third movement, the ‘Allegro’, from the First ‘Brandenburg’ Concerto – recorded here for All of Bach with Bojan Čičić – embodies everything that characterises the ‘Brandenburg’ concertos as a whole: virtuoso concert music in which instrumental soloists take turns in a light-hearted competition. In this ‘Allegro’, you can hear the two hunting horns alternating with a group of three oboes and a bassoon, set against the violino piccolo, an instrument that is tuned a third higher than a normal violin. The violin soloist is the star here, distinguishing himself from the crowd through a virtuoso performance.
