In September 2024, Remix ⟷ Culture facilitated the Tanfis III residency, bringing together traditional musicians, storytellers, and remix artists. The lead storytelling artist, Emir Fils-Aimé collaborated with each lead traditional musician and remix artist to create a series of portraits using a similar format: a slow-motion close-up video portrait of the artist, with an audio voiceover from the artist being interviewed by Emir. Emir's questions revolved around the artists' relationships with their ancestors, teachers, and cultural elders, and how those relationships were connected to their musical practice.
In this video, Araceli discusses how her musical practice not only was an integral part of her relationship with her Indigenous grandmother, but also a strong connection to her Indigenous roots.
