In this profound discourse, Param Pujya Gurudev Anandmurti Gurumaa explains that the infinite ocean of Sansara in which the Jiva drowns is not a literal sea—it is the mind itself, with its waves of Vishaya, Vasana, Raag, and Dvesha. She explains that no one else causes a person's suffering; it is the creation of their own mind. However, when a Guru enters one's life, one can sit in the boat of Guru Bhakti and cross this ocean immediately. This is because the Guru makes the disciple a king in the realm of Gyana and Vairagya—a kingdom far more lasting than any empire of wealth, power, or beauty.
Gurudev quotes Tulsidas from the Ramcharitmanas, noting that even a sinner can have wealth and family, but Sant Samagam and Hari Katha are truly rare. She observes that long queues at temples are formed mostly by those seeking worldly relief rather than pure love for God. Gurudev closes with the Gita's teaching that one who approaches God for personal gain is not a pure devotee. Pure Bhakti means wanting only God, as devotion mixed with worldly desire always carries the stain of selfishness.
