Very scary moment today in Montreal as this Antonov AN-26 blows all 4 main gear tires and even looses one on landing. Thankfully it seems like everyone is ok but this incident did result in the closure of the runway as rescue teams had to sweep the runway for debris.
Based on the video, it looks like the aircraft did float quite a bit down the runway (touching down 1/3 down 24L) and to compensate the pilots applied maximum braking force causing the wheels to skid until the tires couldn't handle the pressure. If you look closely prior to exploding, the wheels do not appear to be spinning. Of course this is all speculation and I could be wrong but that does appear to have caused it.
