For the first time ever, extremely rare echidna "twins" have hatched at the Safari Park 🦔🤎
These dirt-digging darlings are the first pair of puggles hatched from two eggs from the same breeding event at an AZA institution, and a first for the North American echidna population. Their joint arrival is a truly spike-tacular surprise.
Both puggles are living behind the scenes as they continue to reach developmental milestones. One puggle is being raised by mom, Kathryn, while the other is being cared for at the Safari Park's Harter Veterinary Care Center. This ensures both siblings are receiving the specialized care they need to grow and thrive.
