After years of renovating our abandoned watermill in Portugal, one of the biggest milestones yet has finally arrived—we turned on the water for the very first time!
With every pipe hidden beneath finished floors, we held our breath hoping there weren't any leaks waiting to ruin years of work. Thankfully, the pressure test brought good news, allowing us to install our very first household appliances after more than a decade of living tiny.
But, as always, nothing goes quite according to plan...
From a dented dryer delivery and a washing machine that nearly launched itself across the laundry room, to preserving our original millstone mechanism beneath a custom glass floor and spending time with friends before Drew heads off to Egypt, this episode is full of the highs, lows, and unforgettable moments that make this journey so special ❤️
After 11 years of van life and nearly four years restoring this abandoned watermill, moving day is finally beginning to feel real.
