AVSForum recently partnered with Epson to host a special event at Epson’s U.S. headquarters in Los Alamitos, California. We invited 30 AVSForum members to spend the day with Epson’s product team, engineers, and fellow home theater enthusiasts for a unique behind-the-scenes experience.
The day began with a tour of Epson’s facility and a look at parts of the business many people don’t normally get to see. While Epson is well known for projectors in the home theater space, attendees also got a glimpse into the company’s broader operations and technology.
Members had the opportunity to sit down with engineers from Seiko Epson in Japan and learn more about Epson’s 3LCD technology. The session included technical discussions and a Q&A where attendees were able to ask questions directly to the people involved in developing Epson’s products.
One of the biggest highlights of the day was the projector shootout. Multiple projectors were compared side by side using their out-of-the-box settings so attendees could evaluate brightness, HDR performance, contrast, and overall image quality for themselves. While there were plenty of discussions around black levels and contrast, many attendees walked away surprised by how much impact brightness can have on HDR performance and overall image detail.
To wrap up the day, everyone gathered for dinner and continued the conversations outside of the demo rooms. Epson also surprised attendees with commemorative Seiko watches engraved specifically for the event and gave away an Epson QL7000 projector to one lucky winner.
This event also brought together people who share a passion for home theater. It was a chance for AVSForum members to meet in person, and spend time with the engineers and product teams responsible for the technology we discuss every day on the forum.
