Want a faster left hand?

One of the biggest mistakes I see is players trying to move only their fingers. While finger independence is important, your wrist can assist the movement, helping you play more efficiently while you continue building finger strength, articulation, and control.

In this lesson, I’ll show you five simple legato exercises that develop left-hand speed, coordination, and accuracy. Most experienced players naturally combine finger movement with subtle wrist motion, they just don’t realize they’re doing it.

As a bonus, I included one of my favorite tapping exercises that helped improve both my speed and timing.

These exercises are beginner-friendly but remain valuable even for advanced players.

Pro Tip: Place your fingers just behind the fret wire for the cleanest notes with the least effort.

Slow, relaxed, consistent practice will always beat tense, sloppy speed.
