They lied to women about what power, success and being feminine looks like.
And most of us didn't find that out until midlife, when the script we'd been following stopped working and we were left holding a life that looked right from the outside but felt hollow from the inside.
Femininity was painted as fragile. Success was sold as something you had to harden yourself to reach. Power was equated solely with competition and dominance
So we suited up, shut down, and performed our way through decades until we forgot who was doing the performing.
Midlife has a way of making that impossible to ignore.
In my mid 40s something shifted. I stopped pushing forward long enough to look inward. Started peeling back the conditioning, the masks, the roles I'd been playing since before I knew I was playing them.
What I found underneath wasn't weakness. It was depth. A steadiness. A kind of quiet power I'd been trained to distrust for thirty years.
This wasn't about choosing one energy over another. It was about restoring something I'd been taught to ignore since the beginning. It was about opening up the female right to receive as well as give. To recognise rest as something real and essential to creativity and thriving.
The feminine no longer in competition with the masculine, but finally sitting beside it.
The more I came back to myself, the less I needed to prove anything. I could lead without forcing it. It didn’t matter what others were doing. There was only one version of me.
I could hold more, financially, emotionally, spiritually, without burning out.
Midlife isn't a crisis. It's an uncovering. The moment when who you've been performing finally gets tired enough to step aside.
Femininity was never the obstacle like they tried to portray.
For me, it became the door.
